Some Durnan history from Grandpa Leo and his brother Joe

Postby Eric E. Durnan » April 21st, 2012, 10:59 pm

I'll upload the file here that has the written account that my Grandpa Leo and his brother Joe wrote about our family. It's a rather large file. It has other information in the file as well.

Note: Of great interest to me is the part about Stephen going south to work in the rice fields. There was a population of Durnans down in Louisianna. They were rice farmers too! This batch of Durnans (actually Durnins) came from County Fermanagh as well, but I haven't been able to tie them into our line of Durnans. However, this batch of Durnins fought in the Civil War on the side of the Confederacy. I have a few items on them as well, and there is a collection of their things down at a university in Louisiana. I would love to know if we're related to these Durnins!
